About us

Avery Truman in Eltham Arcade stocks a wide range of hardware, houseware, kitchen, garden and DIY equipment.  
 
The business was first established in 1953. Prior to this the building was used as a picture house in the 1930's. After the war, it was converted to a dance hall and tea room and the building still boasts the original sprung dance floor.  
 
In 1953 it became Avery Truman, providing Eltham with a much needed DIY and general household store. Raj and Jag took over the business in 2002 and have diversified into gardening and housewares, as well as maintaining the DIY and ironmongery business. It is now the oldest independent retailer in Eltham.  
 
In addition to the garden and DIY equipment, the shop stocks a wide range of household goods, including electrical items, as well as a a huge selection of bakeware and kitchen utensils. The shop is currently selling a selection of gifts and games which would make perfect christmas presents. Contact the store for a brochure or pop in for a browse round.
